Good question!

I will not verbally abuse my daughter or slap her in her face.
I tell her I love her every day...and mean it.
I will encourage her and try to be a good role model.
I will never leave her or move away
I will put her needs before my own
I tell her all the time how proud I am of her
I show her much affection

I will try to raise them as close as possible to the way my parents raised me, because I was lucky enough to have awesome parents. However, I will not make sex a taboo subject to talk about. That is the only thing I hope to change.

I am going to be a bit different with punishment.
Naughty spot and all that kind of thing instead of smacks. I have nothing against a smack and anyone who likes to do it. It's just as a parent myself now, I can see how it doesn't do anything to teach the child what they have done wrong.
Other than that I hope I can do as well as my parents. I had a happy upbringing, I adore my brother and my parents are two of my best friends.

My wife and I have already raised ours, and I can say that we read all the books, attended parinting groups, consulted psychologists, adhered to recommended disciplinary techniques, and worked hard not to stiffled creativity and personallity development. And, compaired to how I was raised, by rather simply country people, who only taught me character, moral values, right from wrong, and a work ethic, who busted my butt, made me clean my plate, and assigned me chores that had to be done, we did one piss pour job as parents.

I had a good childhood, my parents were amazing, loving, supportive and I am eternally grateful to them for that. But I would not bring my kids up in any religion, rather I would teach them the morals and principles, and let them make their own choice if they wanted to go to a church or not.

i dont beat them or verbally abuse them. i am raising them to be secure individuals and never afraid to come to me when they have a problem. im also teaching them that an education is very important for them. i also taught them that people have to respect their space and if they ever find themselves in an uncomfortable situation, to say something and /or leave. this are only a few things.

Few things I do with my daughter which I miss out:

- never make a promise I can't keep
- never put her down in public
- never compare her to other kids
- never motivate by stupid excuses or instill fear (eg. call the cops on you)
- never disagree with my spouse in front of the kid.
- & much more, can't think just yet.
