I don't think so. First of all, LimeWire is a file sharing software, much similar to Napster. If it was illegal, why hasn't the federal government shut it down? In addition to that, the full version software is for sale! Also, when a person searches for software, music, movies, etc., on LimeWire, they are obtaining files shared by other people. How is that illegal? It's almost like visiting your public library, which, in itself, is a wealth of information in print and other media. How can this be any different?

Limewire is only a report-sharing application. the pro version receives you some extra reward like extra simultaneous connections, faster obtain speed, and so on. yet it is it. It doesn't advise Limewire is somewhat giving record organizations money for any songs you would possibly want to obtain. even if you get the loose or professional version, downloading copyrighted textile with Limewire is prohibited. you are able to obtain each and every of the open-source and freely-dispensed content textile you want, yet something else is legally off-limits.

It's only not illegal if you pay for the service, because that goes to the royalties. The free service is made available if you don't download copyrighted materials, which is crap because everyone does.
Intellectual property is still property, the only difference is, if you steal it, it's not missing, but it is stealing. So it's no different than asking, "If I steal from a grocery store, is it legal if I keep it all to myself?"
I'm lucky, I only listen to old music, so everything I download is already public domain.

The illegal part lies in the distribution of it. You partake, along with millions of others in recieving from the distributors, you're commiting an illegal act.
Of course I'm sure if you sample music there, delete it then buy the CD, no one would care, but yes it is illegal. Just like driving 80 MPH on a 65 MPH freeway. But everyone seems to do it...

It's illegal to download copyrighted music. (pretty much all music on limewire is copyrighted) When you install limewire you agree to the TOS which states that u won't download copyrighted material....but who's stopping you? no one is going to show up at your door and arrest you. my philosophy is pay for the good stuff, download the okay stuff....have fun =)

out of personal expiernce, if u like the artist and want to hear more from them buy their album and support them. I got a few songs from an artist I was unsure of to hear what they were like and I went out and bought like 3 of their albums. Besides, CDs are better quality by far than anything you can find on the internet.
