Wondering because when K. Sutherland's character meets M.Douglas' character in the fingerprintlab, K Sutherland says he knows of the affair, and that it wasn't with his wife. Did that mean that he suspected an affair, then got divorced, but was mistaken, or did it simply mean that he knew of both affairs?

Kiefer's character thought Michael's character was having an affair with his wife and that's why they were seperated but Michael's character was having the affair with The First Lady and that's why someone was trying to kill The President.
