Just from reading the Yale and Harvard websites, they seem to put a really big emphasis on the arts, like languages, philosophy, english etc. Hence, I am considering going for an Arts and Science, or maybe even an Arts degree (I am just as content with doing those types of courses as I am taking just science courses).

In my experience, successful applicants to prestigious med schools such as Harvard and Yale have often double-majored in a humanities discipline and a science discipline, or have taken all of the required science courses, but have majored or minored in something in the humanities as well.

These sorts of schools get highly qualified applicants from everywhere, and they look for students who distinguish themselves in various ways. One way to distinguish oneself is to ace all required "pre-med" courses in the sciences, and to receive honors of some kind in another, non-science major.

There are, of course, other ways to distinguish oneself. Find a unique way to do so (while acing all courses, and getting a stellar MCAT score, and doing some "shadowing" or other medical-related volunteer work over the summers, etc.), and that will help you to present yourself well.

Is it true that presitigious Med schools favor Arts students over those who have Science degrees?

NO.

if you want to go to med school, get a degree in MCB, maybe a double major in PSYCH.
