My husband has been taking this for years. We want to have a child, and that seems to be the inhibiting factor? I am furious because he didn't tell me it caused that much of a problem. It has been months, and it would appear he shoots blanks. Has anyone known this to inhibit pregnancy? He can't get off it; is there any solution??

He wants to have the fertility test. It just suddenly came up that the Paxil causes low sperm count?!

Despite what alot of physicians tell you about any type of anti-depressant, sexual side effects are present in most. I have been on Paxil, Celexa, Nefazadone, and Zoloft and have had problems with ALL of them. With Paxil and Celexa I had trouble getting pregnant. Nefazadone caused me to lose natural citric acid - which caused me to develop Calcium Kidney Stones. I also had a low sex drive, but no difficulty getting pregnant. Zoloft was the worst. Not only did I have NO sex drive, but I also experienced bouts of rage that I had never had before.

SOOOO what I suggest is that your husband try 6 month trials with other anti-depressants. Anti-depressants affect everybody differently, so what might not have worked for me, may work for him. Also that way you can see if something else might be better suited to help him. Whatever he does try though make sure you watch his behavior and his eating patterns. His behavior may show a bad reaction to the meds which could cause the rage or make the depression worse. His eating patterns will let you know if he is developing kidney stones as a result of the medication or liver problems.
Good luck!!

Don't be mad at him, it doesn't effect everyone the same way. If he has been on it for years then you should have had a clue by now. He needs to have his doctor run a sperm count to see if that is the problem. The Paxil should not have any effect on that at all. Have you been checked to see if you may be part of the problem? Take this problem to your doc so you can get the right help.

ask a pharmicist if this is caused by Paxil CR. I have never heard that. If it is caused by Paxil CR, he could be weaned off of it by his doctor and take a different med while making babies.
