I just got an 8G Nano as a gift. I wasn't really in the market for a unit like this; I had really bare-bones little thing with maybe 256k of memory - - enough to take some tunes to the gym with. The sound was ok, but not that great.
But I find that the Nano is fantastic! Not only is 8G an amazing amount of storage (I have no idea how I'm going to use it all), the sound quality is really good. I don't use the earbuds that came with it, and go for some nice water-resistant Sony Sport headphones, but I've listened to it with some Bose headphones as well, and the sound is very nice.
The transport controls took a little getting used to... I was expecting to have to push buttons more than just slide my finger around the control wheel, but after mastering that, it turned out to be easy.
I know they're on the pricy-side, but most things from Apple are... It's that premium people pay for the "cool factor..."
But so far I think the unit is really outstanding.

Thumbs down to apple ipods.. their sound quality is the pits, I have ipod owners use their own ear-buds to compare the sound on my creative zen and their jaws drop
They have the fewest features and are years away from the technology of either Creative or Archos.
and the price is two to four times the price of MP3 players of the same quality. They scratch too easily, their battery life is low, both the hours it will stay charged and the life of the battery itself and it need too many exterior devices at premium prices,
for example it needs an exterior device at $50-$60 just to get FM radio on it while my Zen has an FM radio built in and cost less than the Apple exterior add on to the ipod. and all those wires you need , no wires needed for my zen.
no, thumbs way down for Apple

No I don't. Too many problems, too non- replacable, ie. one thing breaks and it usually isnt covered by warranty and you cant replace the part so you have to replace the whole thing, Not a very environmentally responsible practice from a company obvuilsly trying to completely dominate the market.

They are the most amazing invention, I don't know why people are so used to them, the PRESIDENT should be talking about them. I think they are the BEST.
