I went to my dr last week and was told I have a kidney infection.I had an allergic reaction to first meds and had to go back for a different kind.Went back again because of a yeast infection. How long will it be before meds help? And I didn't know that you could have a discharge with kidney infections. My sides and back are just now starting to actually hurt. All I have been drinking is water. Will i ever see any relief?

Drink 4 to 6 ounces of water each and every waking hour.

Get 100% cranberry juice from Trader Joe's and drink 2 ounces twice per day, with water or orange juice if it's too strong for you.

Get plain nonfat yogurt with active yeast cultures and eat 1/2 cup per day each and every day during and for a month after taking any antibiotic to avoid a yeast infection or recover from one.

Relief is easy to get in this problem. Good luck!

Hi! The kidney infection was the reason the doc gave you antibiotics. This kills good bacteria in the vaginal canal and yeast grows which causes the yeast infections. I always eat 1 cup yogurt with active cultures a day or a probiotic blend capsule.(Avon's Flat Stomach) That keeps the vaginal canal healthy and staves yeast infections. Your kidneys are in your low back and that's where you should feel pain. Kidney stones are 10 times more painfull and you will see a sand type stuff in discharge. All of it is not fun! Stay away from colas and most pop drinks. When our men came back from the middle east, they suffered with kidney problems and the doctors said it was from soft drinks--Pepsi--that they were sent. Drink 1 or 2 six ounce glasses of cranberry juice (no more or you will have stomach pain) and sometimes beer helps. You will se relief in a few days as long as you do what the doctor says. Put a thermal pack on your back and I wish you good luck!

Unfortunately the antibiotics cause yeast infection. I have problems with my kidneys more than i will admit. For the infection i would recommend lots and lots of water until you are ready to gag. Cranberry juice is good for the antioxidents but water is best. If you let a kidney infection go too long you can develop stones. The antibiotics should show signs of working within 48 hrs. It is regular to get discharge with anyinfection. With the yeast infection meds they will work within 24 hrs. Depending on how bad your kidney infection is i would say 48 but if its a bad on 72 hrs. Good luck and try a heating pad for the kidney i foundit helped some in my case.

Hi, from my past experiences, letting a urinary tract infection go turns into a kidney infection. I don't know how long or how bad your infection is? Sometimes they can treat you within in a few hrs in the ER with IV antibiotics. Other than that, pill form of antibiotics should take 3-4 days to kick in. But just because you are feeling better do not stop taking the pills. Finish ALL the meds and it should go away. To prevent infections, start drinking cranberry juice. Or they have over the counter cranberry pills. But so far you are doing everything right. Just give it time.

Hello, I'm on the second week and seeing definite improvement on my yeast infection symptoms:

Note that: If the yeast infection doesn't respond to over the counter treatment, prescription medication will likely be necessary. Similarly, if the symptoms return after two months of being treated, you should contact the doctor for professional treatment rather than resorting again to home treatment.

If this is the first time you have experienced a yeast infection, you should schedule an appointment to have the condition treated by a doctor instead of resorting to home treatment

Actually, if you are trying to get over a yeast infection, do NOT take cranberry juice, fruit juice of any sort, sugar, bread, or vinegar, fruit, milk. Stay away from sweet things for at least a couple weeks until you can get your digestive flora in your gut replenished. Stick to vegetables and meat.
Increase your digestive flora by taking acidophilus from your health food store. Grapefruit seed extract, pau de'arco and olive leaf extract are excellent for killing yeast and getting rid of yeast infections.

Instead of cranberry juice, take Cran-Actin from the health food store. It is supposedly much more effective and it will not contribute to your yeast infection.

Continue to drink a gallon of filtered water a day.

Also, do a kidney cleanse...you can find it on www.curezone.com or in Dr. Hulda Clark's book The Cure for All Diseases.

Make a vegetable smoothie every day using parlsey, cilantro, and romaine lettuce to help clean out your kidneys. Either make it with plain yogurt or with water. You can flavor it with curry powder if you like.

Stay away from tea, coffee, pop, chocolate, and spinach because they all create oxalic acid in the kidneys.

I definitely recommend that you read the forums on www.curezone.com for additional suggestions.
