I have supported it for many years, although I don't use it. I support people's right to use alcohol also, even though I very seldom ingest any.
I don't support anyone under 21 using either alcohol or cannabis. I support a persons right to brew alcohol for personal use and I support the right of a person to grow cannabis for personal use also. And, without government taxation..... suck out lefties....
These are God given rights, natural rights, the same as the right to bear arms and protect ones self and family, and shouldn't be interfered with by self serving political hacks.
It is political interference in our educational system and government refusal to harshly address the illegal alien invasion that is doing the real harm to this nation and its people. Illegal aliens from Mexico(according to CNN) are bringing in 60+ million pounds of marijuana and 11 million pounds of cocaine annually.... although I think the drug #s are exagerated upwards. And, that the #s of illegal aliens are drastically lowered falsely to avoid public outcry..... all in all, it shows the corruption.... and that $$$$ are the driving factor behind the corruption.... CNN exposed where part of the $$$ causing the corruption are originating.... plus, our own government has claimed that over 90% of crystal meth sold in America, is manufactured in Mexico. Like communist RED china and Russia, Mexico is not a friend of the USA or its people.

If alcohol is, why not Marijuana?
If Marijuana is illegal, why not alcohol?
The pros and cons are the same. We as a society is just not consistent in dealing with the so call recreational chemical and the consequence in any irresponsible behavior after the consumption of these chemicals.

Legal or not, I think it would still be accessible to kids. It is really harmful to the young. They don't seem to mature and it keeps their minds clouded all the time. Of course, not everyone reacts to it in the same way. But that seems to be generally true. Hot smoke of any sort hurts your teeth and gums and causes congested lungs. I know there are medical benefits to it, but there is so much prejudice against it that we still don't know the whole truth about it. It needs to be controlled and the only way to do that is to legalize it. Then medical science won't be afraid to tell us the truth and we can all benefit from it and I think accessibility to kids could be better controlled.

I am not too sure myself
I have nothing against it personally but there are couple reasons for pros and cons
pros
We could tax it like cigarettes and make the american government richer
There would be better regulations of it.
Less people would go to prison
easier to relieve pain and healthy eating habits for medical patients
Cons
Impairment of short-term memory
poor motor skills and concentration(bad for the kids and the future of this country)
people lose motivation to do most things
poor eating habits in normal people
Good now but think of the future of this country

Alcohol is 100 times more dangerous, socially & medically.
A scientist did an 18 yr. study & found out that it is positively
Not addicting & no one has ever overdosed from it.
I'll tell you who is lazy - the government - they could be
packaging, selling the stuff, creating a new job market &
making themselves even more millions.
Sometimes, I think they make so money from DUI's, that
they're just afraid that they would have give up some of
that revenue. Really sad on their part.

Sure, but I think like other substances, there needs to be some regulation with it. I'm still working on how much regulation though, I haven't figured that out yet.

The argument of legalizing marijuana or not is akin to the age-old battle of Creationism vs. Evolution. Everyone has his or her own opinion. Who is right? Legalizing marijuana is social debate whose outcome couldn't possible please everyone.
Legalizing marijuana, not unlike decriminalizing, is wrought with both pros and cons. Both sides have equally convincing arguments as to why it should or should not be done.
CONS:
Marijuana is a doorway drug to harsher more dangerous drug use
Pot makes you stupid
Crime rates will increase
It will make the drug readily available to our country's youth
Marijuana is dangerous and causes lung cancer
PROS:
Marijuana creates pacifism and is a stress reliever
Will decrease the crime rate if the herb is readily available. It will eliminate the need of an underground subculture
Marijuana has medicinal values
No one has ever died from smoking marijuana
Pot enhances creativity

I am liberal on most issues, and I have sene how Marijuana turns productive people into sloppy lazy people. That said, I do not object to its legalization, though I would never use it myself. I do however believe very strongly that if it were legalized, there should be a HUGE TAX on it to fund rehabs for all those who have used it (and would have anyway had it been illegal) to get the help they will need to clean up.
Then maybe there are some that are able to do it moderately, but I still wonder why bother

Yes. If this is really a "free" country, people (adults) should be allowed to put whatever they want into their own bodies. If cigarettes and alcohol are legal, marijuana should be also considering marijuana has never killed anyone while the other two have.

Never legalize it. I live in Oregon and we have medical marijuana here. I work in a industry that helps house poor and low income. I see the abuse of its use every day and the destruction it causes. There are "Doctors" who will issue a card to anyone who wants one. It is a gateway drug to much more destructive drugs like meth and cocaine.
