If you're measuring intelligence by IQ points - you're gonna find some intensely stupid people among the Mensa (140 IQ) and above. Serial killers, Machiavellian bosses with zilch people-skills, etc, etc ..

Common sense, values, principles, Emotional Quotient are probably better ways of measuring how much good (success in life, relationships, job, earth's future, etc) a human can do for themselves or their race.

I have to agree with the people replying, who are saying that we're not intelligent enough actually. You just have to look at George W Bush to realise that intelligence is hardly flowing in the world (and hes supposed to be the most powerful leader in the world!).
Also, in a world of people who believe in man-made religions and that sort of crap, there is obviously a lack of intelligence and common sense.
If, as humans, we were too intelligent then surely we would have eradicated famines, droughts, disease, violence, murders, etc.

Quite the opposite.

Most people are too stupid.
They just happen to have access to the inventions of the minority that is intelligent, thus allowing them to kill each other and everyone else with great efficiency.

I think a simple rule could solve a lot of problems: if you don't understand how something works, you're not allowed to use it.

Your question is like two arrows pointed at each other tip to tip ,,,,,,,Man has a high degree of intelligence but he lacks common sense to put it to good use allot of times ,,,,,, You can liken it to a gallon of anti freeze ,,,,, A gallon of pure anti freeze will freeze solid unless you add a small amount of water to it to activate the chemical ingredients that prevents it from freezing ,,,,,,, So ,,,,, man can possess a ton of intelligence but if he doesn't have an ounce of common sense to add to it ,, then he's lost ,,,, think about mans past disasters ,,,,,,, The use of common sense might have prevented the loss of allot of lives and or property ,,,,, Mans greed is also a problem where their intelligence and common sense are concerned ,,,,,, How many times in the past has mans greed got him in trouble ,,,, Like when building something they opt for the most cost effective way of doing something when common sense dictates what he should have done ,,,,,?? So are humans too intelligent for their own good ,,,,, Probably ,,,,,, They know enough to get themselves in trouble but they haven't got enough intelligence to know when to use common sense to keep them out of it ,,,, Yoda said that

haaaaaaaaa your funny "Are humans to intelligent for there own good?" half of us couldn't get the VCR to stop blinking 12:00 and the other half just aren't ready to own a DVD player cause they were worried it would take them 8 yrs to get the clock to stop blinking 12:00 on it. man my seem smart but in fact we are the dumbest creatures on this rock we fight over stupid things we buy things just because others have them and the list just keeps going on the stupid stuff we do honestly have you ever seen a bear volunteer to jump out of a perfectly good airplane with a sheet in a backpack on his back why not you ask cause they ain't stupid yet we pay to do it...........

I don't believe in "good." Good is an opinion. If it's good for someone then it might be bad for another. I like my Big Macs, some one else might say I'm a cow killer. People are intelligent to the extent that it benefits them, mostly anyway. Ignore the grammar police above ( They just wish to show off their witt ). I knew what you meant by the context of your sentence.

No. We're actually pretty stupid. Just look at the leaders of the USA and the UK. Not blaming them, we voted for them.

I often am
Sometimes I question too much rather than blindly following. Life would be so much easier on me if I could do that.

Not intelligent enough, if we were more intelligent we'd feel more acceptance & concern for others.
