The only thing wrong about meeting people online is the fact that you can never tell if they are being honest until the last moment.

It's better than meeting them in a bar where pheremones can rear their ugly heads and cloud your logic. On the internet, you can actually get to find out something about the other person BEFORE chemistry comes into play. Of course, you never know if people on line are lying--but, then again, you never really know if anyone is actually telling the truth wherever you may happen to meet them.
The main pitfall of internet dating is that even if you think that you've found the greatest match in the world, there's always the possibility that when you finally get to meet, the bells and whistles just might not be there for you. But, even if there's no romance, with so much in common, you can always be good friends, and a good friend could fix you up with someone else for a romance. Either way, you win!

It is an iffy thing for every good story out there, there is 2 horror stories. I waited six months before i met my Internet buddy. He met me at work, I asked for his drivers license, called my girlfriend gave him all his specs including plate number, kept in touch with her through our date....well that was 5 years ago and things are still strong. Just be cautious.

No it's not wrong. Precautions should be used to protect your safety though. Meet in a public place and make sure someone close knows where you are, with whom and when!
