I just got into football last year, and I love it now. I'm trying to start a league at work - one dept. against another. I'm 5'4 and weigh 120 lbs. I'm a team player at work, and I love the idea of being an offensive lineman so I can shove the hell out of people so my team can score. Why do people laugh at me?

I HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM!!! I think they laugh because they are mean.
It's so annoying. People laugh when I tell them I want to be a cornerback. (Although, I want to do it in the NFL.)
No matter how big they are, it's never cool to make fun of people's dreams!
When this girl told me she wanted to be a doctor, even though she's dumb as a brick, did I laugh? NO! That would have been cruel. I was supportive and said "GO FOR IT!" Who knows, she might study hard and become a doctor some day.
So I'm giving the same advice to you! You might not seem like the perfect lineman, but prove them wrong! Heck, you're not talking about the NFL! I'm sure you can kick the crap out of your co-workers!
You and I will prove them wrong together!

Rock on girl. I wish some of the kids I've coached had your heart and additude.
Honestly though. 120 lbs. As long as you don't have any of those macho jock types where you work you probably won't get hurt.
As a Linebacker and defensive lineman I'd have to laugh just a little. Now if you come out fighting and kicked my *** a little on the first play I'd be impressed.

People laugh at you because their exposure to football is limited and their life ambitions are so narrow minded thet they don't include success in any sport.
The image of an offensive lineman is a big strong guy with the smarts to execute independantly yet as a brick in a wall...most people don't get this.
I say go for it.
Are you playing flag football or full contact?
We have a ladies full contact team here in Germany.

Because your 5'4" tall, and weigh 120 lbs. The other team is going to put their biggest guys on the defensive line and you are not allowed to hold on to them, so it helps if the guy in front of them is a little too big to just shove around.

just cuz you said you're 5'4 and 120 kickers aret even allowed to be that weight so ppl will laugh if u talk about being an offensive linemen i dont know if you;ll still like he idea of shoving people when the person you hae to shove happens to be 6'3 250 but hey go fo your dreams good luck

well most offensive linemen in the nfl are over or around 300 lbs, and i know it's not a pro football thing you're trying to start, but if somebody that was over 200 lbs lined up against you, i don't think that you would be able to handle them lol. but if you really want to then like that other guy said, more power to you, and have fun with it lol

I would suggest trying for a WR position. At 120 lbs, you wouldn't be able to protect the QB from linebackers.

First of all O-Line are for people who can't do anything else and that you are little at only a buck twenty. You would have to weight like 250 to be an O-line and I know you don't to mess up your pretty little body. Be a wide reciever or a punter at least.

Because you're tiny and would get your *** kicked by any real lineman of any size.
You'd be better suited to a running position.
