I need help working on my resume. I am searching for a career in the commercial art related field, which I was in school for. I am looking for a career in graphic design or graphic arts. The problem I have is I don't have a fancy Masters or Bachelors degree or many years of work experience that all employers are looking for upfront. The only knowledge I have of the career I am searching for is from what I learned in school and not the actual work experience. The only jobs that were ever available to me were low paying minimum wage jobs. The jobs I worked over the years were all unskilled jobs and not relating to the career I really want. I have to list on my resume my employment history, but my employment history is not related to my career choice that I am seeking. Do I put down my employment history even though I have no work experience in the commercial art industry? I tried to apply for jobs that I can work my way up to gain some experience and even that didn't work for me.

As the previous answer suggested, list relevant courses you have taken. If you GPA is good, then list it on your CV. You may also want to create a portfolio of your work to submit along with your resume.

Best wishes.

write down the classes you' ve taken under "Related CourseWork" and write down the jobs youve had, because its better than nothing. Also if your just starting take any job you can in your field regardless of the pay. Gain experance for a year or so and get a better job. To pay the bills work on the weekends as a tutor or a waiter or whatever.
