Don't do the problem on the calculator in the first place. The calculator should be a tool, not a crutch.

If the decimal number is .712, then express as 712/1000. The number 712 has three decimal places which means it is in the
thousandths position.

Another example. Take the number .5 As a fraction, it is expressed as 5/10 . The decimal in the number .5 represents the tens position. This is where I get the number 10.

The decimal positions are 10 100 1000 10000 100000 etc

Hope this helps. Also, you may be able to reduce the fractions.
I know 5/10 reduces to 1/2.

binary is base 2 so: 128 | sixty 4| 32 | sixteen | 8 | 4 | 2 | u --------------------------------------... a million | a million | 0 | 0 | 0 | a million | 0 | a million | a million | There are 8 bits in a byte and its base 2 so all of the numbers are powers of two. the main a byte can keep is 255. e.g 128 + sixty 4 + 32 etc... makes 255 draw the table I even have drawn then artwork from the left putting your binary a million's and 0's interior the in accordance columns then in simple terms upload. so thats 128 + sixty 4 + 8 + 2 + a million = 203 so the decimal (denary) form is 203

Don't take the numbers out of fraction form to begin with. Multiply your numerators together and write down your answer. Then, multiply your denominators and place that number under your previous result. Then, reduce to lowest terms.

Q. Express 7.290290 as a fraction
Solution
take x=7.290290
therefore, 1000x=7290.290

999x=7290-7 (the 0.290 is taken out)
999x=7283
therefore, x = 7283/999
