it kinda is a dumb idea because kids are expecting candy, its the one night a year to just go out and have fun and be whatever you want to be and get some candy!!

I don't necessarily think it's dumb, but I'll tell you right now...the kids more than likely won't eat it. The parents more than likely won't allow them to, either...unless it's individually wrapped.

If you want to go with something healthy and tasty at the same time, I suggest Kudos bars or something like that. To the kids, it's a candy bar...to us, it's nutritional.

When I got fruit for Halloween, I used to hide in the bushes along side the street and throw it at the kids as they walked by. I'm thinking that apples would be a waste of money. Go for the Oatmeal bars instead. =)

Good luck, and have fun!

I know for a fact if anyone gave us apples or homemade popcorn balls we threw them away because they are so easy to tamper with. If anyone gives stuff like that to my children, I'll throw them away - same reason. So anybody who gives those things out may be trying to do the nutrition route but they're going to be wasting their money. No, kids want candy. They don't want granola bars, pretzels, pencils, plastic toys - they want candy!!
lol Give 'em what they want - it's only once a year!

people will no longer accept apples because one year some kids found razors in the apples. thats when the whole thing about keeping wrapped candy and throwing out unwrapped candy started.its not dumb, people are just too paranoid to take them now.

We used to throw the fruit at each other whenever people gave it to us for halloween because our mom's said never eat fruit from strangers so it was basically a waste for those people. There used to be an old lady around the block who gave us 5 pennies each...we threw them at each other too...

It's dumb and selfish and arrogant. Giving kids healthy snacks on halloween is like trying to prove that your better than everyone else. It's not broken; don't think you can improve it.

me!!

one time I went to this old people's home on halloween and they said, "Oh, we dont think candy is very nutritious for youngens like you, so we're going to give you something better." And then they pulled out apples and boxes of raisins.

If my daughter got an apple, I would throw it out. Sorry, but too many freaks out there.

You could try to find packets of trail mix, or nuts, or sunflower seeds, etc if you do not want to hand out candy.

waste of money cause any smart parent would throw it out. You've heard of razor blades in apples. If it's not wrapped toss it.
