And now for an answer from a guy who prefers abstinance until marriage:
As far as I go, a nice weekend away remembering various points that stick out in the relationship, like dates and movies and holidays. Preferably some place that we can just be alone to talk, listen to a little music, maybe watch a movie we both enjoy.
However, if you're going to take the suprise route I remember what my GF did. Just as I was getting off work she snuck up behind me and put me in a bear hold. Then she took meout and we just walked the mall for a few hours. You'd be suprised how long we can spend just window shopping. We like most of the same stores so it was pretty easy to take our time and share our finds. Sometimes all you really need to do is get back to basics.
I suppose it would be harder for a girl to try and do something romantic for a guy since there are so many guys who just don't seem to apprciate the idea of a romantic gesture. But honestly, steal him away and remind why you chose him/he chose you in the first place. Hope this helped.

Try to do stuff you did a long time ago before you got stuck in a rut and had all osrts of responsibilities.
And yes -- try a surprise "job" like while you're watching tv or something.
