I think that people over 50 should take the test over or be made to actually take a new driving class. Sometimes there are a few new things that they may not be aware of. I also think that it should be on an individual basis. I personally know some great older drivers lol! Were talking about people who are 67 and 75 years old. You can't imagine how many 'good driver" points they have:)

Agreed when people get older they develop conditions that could render them incapable of driving a vehicle. Problems like senility, vision problems, medical problems and such. In my opinion this could create a problem if there are children present even other adults who could get seriously injured by careless senior citizens. although they do have the right to drive there is no problem in a crash course test as a refresher which could determine whether an individual needs glasses to see better or just be denied a license for health reasons. Which in any case the government should provide them with a health care worker to drive them around on there errands.

I do agree with you, it is potentially dangerous for older people to be driving after a certain age. We have a case here in S. California right now involving an elderly man whom I believe to be in his late 80's who mistook the gas pedal for the brake pedal and accelerated through a Farmer's Market killing about ten people (shoppers) and injuring dozens and at this point its still up in the air whats gonna happen to him. It is safer for everybody including the driver if they are required to test annually after a certain age. On the downside Ive also seen where sometimes when they get old and lose their licenses their health tends to go downhill because driving is almost the last form of independence they have to hold on to. So can go both ways.

People of all ages do the same thing.I've been hit by a young person who took off after hitting me.I think EVERYONE should be retested on a regular basis. There are bad drivers in all age brackets. And by the way,I get freaked out when I ride with my teenager.

yes, thats hit and run. I wonder if she was even aware that she hit you? Thats scary!! I agree 100% that at a certain age, (maybe after age 70) they should be tested every year.

damn straight its hit and run, i hate theese freakin old people who drive like 55mph down the fast lane they need to have their licences taken away after 65 and should have to take a road test every year to get it back.

I agree with you, it's a big issue but I don't think that anyone would change the law...one day you'll be old yourself and you'll want to drive, that's why those folks won't change anything...

p.s. when cars will fly there won't be that issue, let old people drive and young people fly :)

no politician will touch the issue because of fear of losing the votes of old people. I'm sorry but your reflexes get worse the older you get. It's like drinking and driving all the time.
