Can anyone give me a few hints to start up a home/office organization business? I am really busy as it is, with working full time and taking 2 classes but I am really good at organizing closets, paperwork, or basically anything. i am interested on doing it on the weekends. What is the best way to start it up and can you give me any advice?

That is a great idea. Look around and see who your competition is and if the business is something that is needed in your area. Write a business plan so you know where you are headed. Your start up fees are nearly nothing. But consider insurance for entering others homes and liability (breaking something, etc.). You will have to figure out a "quoting system" how much you will charge for what. Register your business name at your county building. Dream up a logo to put on your flyers, etc. Keep a good ledger for when tax time rolls around. Utilize good inexpensive marketing tools: flyers, ad in newspaper, word of mouth, etc.

It might grow and you can quit your full-time job. Good luck

Yes. You can go to any office supply store and buy blank business cards. Microsoft Works comes with most business card forms pre-programmed so that you don't need to worry about setting margins on your own. Just select the right form number from your box. Also, if you are running this from your home, set up an area that you will use exclusively for the business. It may be possible to deduct a portion of your home expenses from your business income before it is taxed.

If you have a regular job that you plan on keeping, have them keep out extra taxes to cover the self-employment income. Otherwise, you'll need to make quarterly estimated payments. Good luck!!

If you are looking for something that is totally flexible that you can work around ANY schedule then you may want to consider becoming a Mary Kay consultant. It's very low start up, no territories, no quotas so basically you work as much as YOU want to. Average to start out is $30.00 per hour and you make 1/2 of everything that you sell. I can mail or email you more information if you're interested. I am a sales director and have worked my business without being "pushy" to my consultants or my customers so there is no pressure to do more than you are wanting to do.

I found that ordering nice glossy business cards on line, and passing them out to everyone who is interested, will get your name out steadily. If you do good work, people talk, and soon you will be overloaded with work. You can design your card on their web site or email your design to them, I got 1000 for about $60, this was two years ago, I still have a bunch and business is boomin'.Best of luck, Don't be scared to stick your neck out a little!
