I grew up on a farm raising both and it totally depends on what you are raising them for. Chickens are less expensive and depends if you're raising them for eggs, or chickens to sell for raising and/or eating.

Same goes for cattle....are you just raising them to eventually sell for eating? or are you thinking of milking, breeding??

Huge factor will be the amount of room you have on your "farm" and the amount of money to supply feed, fencing, barns etc.

When I was a kid we lived on a ranch and had chickens, cattle, turkeys, ducks and horses. Try a 50/50 ranch. Chickens and cattle.
