My IKEA bed (I know, a piece of crap) keeps collapsing because the wood slats keep falling through. They can't seem to stay in place. This constantly happens, almost every day I have to lift the mattress and move the slats back in place. Anytime you sit on the bed, it collapses. Any ideas how to fix it? It is a queen size bed, so there are two sets of slats.

Use carpenter glue and glue or with nailgun nail slats to the frame or you can call customer service of IKEA tell them your problem and what should you do-since they make the bed-comes from Sweden and don't think all the Swedes would tolerate problem for wouln't bemany beds sold-must be a fluke and before I'd glue or nail I'D CALL FIRST Even if you've had the bed for awhile. Ikea is fairly new in this country and they want satisfied customers for know word of mouth can affect sales. Also European Co and still very big on Customer Service

Replace the slats with new ones cut so that they completely span the distance between the frame rails on either side. If the frame bends under normal stress, drill holes through slats and frame and bolt on to the other.

Screw the slats in place to the side rails. Use screws that won't stick out of the side rails. This way, if you ever need/want to move the bed, you wiill still be able to take it apart. I would not use nails or glue.

Your slats should fit flush to each to each railing wall with hardly any play and remember beds are for laying down.

Truth is, I've been a carpenter for almost 36 years, and I haven't found anything like this for less than 10's of thousands of dollars.

sounds like something has shifted, first check the rails for proper installation, they may be set to wide, if they appear okay check to see if the slats fit snugly into rails, if they donot, eyeball the rail at length for any curvature.. if the rails and slats are both wood, you may wish to fasten them together with screws, if the rails are metal, you may want to attach another bracket on the underside to keep them from seperating any further. while you are at it, check to see how the mattress fits, if it is spreading the rails you might have to change them.
