My health nurse told me that I couldn't have a forward facing seat until my son was one. You need to buy a convertable car seat that faces backward and isn't removable. It's dangerous to have them forward facing earlier since their necks are strong enough. My son was 24 lbs at that age... So I know what you're going through. At least you can keep this one until he needs a booster seat though.

they sugest that you keep them rear facing till 22 months but my children had to be turned around at about 1 yrs old. The next care seat after the infant carrier is a forward facing car seat that goes up to about 50 pounds. They are the big bulking looking once but they are alot of chooses to pick from.

He can now go in any convertable style car seat, meaning forward or rear facing. This seat will take him to at least 30 pounds depending on seat, some even transform into a booster to take them up to 50pounds. And national regulations require baby to stay rear facing to at least 12 months longer if not 22 lbs. But check your states law, in Michigan the new law requires them to stay rear facing til 18 months or 30 lbs which ever omes first unless baby is under 12 months.

I have my 15 month old in a convertible seat. She still faces the rear now, but the seat can face forward when she's older. I checked Consumer Reports and found my best choice. There are lots of brands and models for all price ranges. If you look around, I'm sure you'll find one that meets your needs as well!

Yes, this is true but there is also a waight requirement, if your child meets this then they can be younger. the best seat to buy is a 3 step kind of seat, good for new born to the next stage and then boaster seat. I have had my daughter in 1 since she was a newborn and she is now 5. There is nicer ones now. just go to anystore that sells babyseats ask for this kind explain that you would like the seat for all ages, and it will have instructions on what age and weight they need to be to face forward and evrything you need to know.

A convertible car seat is all you need! This is the one we just recently bought for our son and he love it. It has 5 tilt positions, front and rear-facing, snug shoulder and lap straps, a bottle/cup holder, and resembles a baby papsan seat.
After my son came out of a bad accident this year in his Discovery seat without a scratch, Evenflo is the only brand I will use- period.

You should get him a convertible carseat like the Britax Marathon, and keep him rear facing until he is a year old, then you can turn him front facing if you like.
The Britax is the best carseat you can get, it has a steel frame and a really high weight limit, and height limit.
