Why is it that democrats and republicans hate each other so much? I used to be farther to the right than I am now, but even then I had alot of friends who where democrat. Now I'm an Independent and I get along with pretty much everyone even though we disagree on alot of things. I'm big on protecting the environment and things like that. To me it seems that we all should agree on protecting the environment sense we all live here! We are all americans so, why should we hate one another over our political views? Its almost like a new form of racism or a cancer that is eating our nation apart. And when so called "conservative christians" display their hatred its even more disturbing. I don't believe God approves of such behavior. Kinda defeats the purpose of being a Christian if you can't love your enemies as Jesus himself taught!

You are correct. Not so many years ago, we could stand united. I believe you hit the nail on the head when you mentioned "conservative christians". They got so involved after Clinton's last term in office they went daffy on us. They are the ones who stir up the hate and divisiveness in our country. Now people are beginning to see through their hypocrisy and starting to think for themselves. That was a perfect example of mixing church and state and why we should not. It is even dividing and hindering growth of the churches as people don't believe you can be that hateful and be Christians anymore. We want an administration that tells us the truth and plans our future by having input from all political parties and from all sectors of society. It is the mistrust that is killing our unity. If our lawmakers would just consider our constitution and the future of our country instead of themselves, we would have a very different world.

I am also big on the environment and very disappointed that neither party seems to care much about it right now... however as per the rest of your discussion... as far as what God approves of doesn't really apply here because America is built on the seperation between Church and State so.. what God approves of doesn't apply to either party.. as far as the Dem and Reps always fighting.. it has always been that way... that's why the two parties were created because not everyone is going to agree with someone else's opinions on how things should be run.. if we all agreed then it would be a perfect world.. which we all know will never exist....

You hit the nail right on the head there. Unfortunately, I dont have an answer why. It seems to me that it started when Clinton was president and the Repubs became the majority in the House of Representatives. They took it upon themselves to block anything the Democratic president wanted to do and instead impeach him becuase they couldnt stand that they lost the election. In 2000 and 2004 they won the white house with Bush saying that he would be a "uniter not a divider". He and Cheney then proceeded to declare that anyone who opposed their positions was "un-American" and "terrorist sympathizers". Yes, very uniting way of speaking. They have had almost 6 years of controlling all branches of government and still try to blame Clinton and Dems for all their own failures. Now we are poised to take the Congress back and it scares the hell out of the Repubs. "Pay back is a *****!"

Blame that on one person in particular: the 2000 Presidential election-stealing thug named George W. Bush. Nobody else is worse than him!
