too bad you did not think out your life situation before you took that little gentle animal in to live with you.

many animal adoption agencies will take cats to either stay there until it is time to die or else to adopt out to a family that's given a lot of thought to the care of the sweetie pie.

DO NOT PUT THE CAT OUT INTO THE WILD OR INTO THE ALLEY! it just won't be able to survive. 80% of the lost cats are never found: they usually suffer from starvation, lonliness, cat fights, rape if not neutered, then have pretty little kittens that they can't possibly give adequate nutrition to, via their milk, because their own diets are not nutritious.

and should you perform any cruel, inhumane act upon the cat and anyone finds out about it, you will go to jail. i've heard horror stories about mentally cruel and abusive people putting cats into the microwave, drowning them (quite normal in the country, but ever so cruel), and the worst: put one onto a hot barbeque grill!

other than giving the cat away to an adoption agency or to a shelter (be very careful about anti cruelty league, since when it examines your cat, no matter what you know about the cat's individual fears and personality traits, if it scratches or bites a worker when it is scared, they will kill it, immediately, never giving it a chance to find a home), you might find a family/individual that likes your cat and will care well for it. you have to ask them questions, like how they intend to care for it.

if it just HAS to be killed, like others said above, euthanasia is the best way to go. the animal is given a tranquilizer first and it is almost asleep by the time it is given a strong shot of either phenobarbital or sometimes potassium cloride, which stops the heart from beating.

sorry you have to do this.

Why do you want to kill a cat???? If it's just a bothersome stray, then call the humane society to come pick it up. Don't kill it....that's considered animal cruelty and you could get fined and/or go to jail.

Why do you want to kill a cat? If you really have to get rid of it, just take it to humane society.

A professional vet would be the best way, your local animal shelter can help you find a local one. Euthanasia is quite cheap and easy, and utterly painless.

If you -must- do it yourself, a bullet in the top of the skull, between the ears is the quickest way.

But, please, first make every effort to have a professional handle it.

Remember; in many jurisdictions it is animal cruelty, punishable by up to four years in prison in California. Unless it is a" mercy" killing, you could find yourself in serious legal trouble, not to mention the reaction of your neighbors and friends, if found out.

you are a kitty killer, why do you want to kill your cat for? If you don't want your cat take it to the pound and find a better home for it.

It depends on why it needs to be put down, for example if it can't be treated take it to the humane society ,if it can give it away.
