Ehud Barak was a trained officer of the elite Israeli commando elite. Unarmed combat & fighting is part of the training but commandos usually go for quick & silent killing whereas strangulation takes up too much time especially when operating in places infested with the enemies.

He was a good leader but couldn't stomach politics, hence his short term as Israel's Prime Minister (not that it's a bad thing as politics is a dirty business).

Reagan was a good president. Though he had more flair for politics, Bharak is a better military person.
