I am applying to very prestigious universities, and I was wondering if I spiced up some of my achievements in high school (such as 3 years of a sport, instead of the two that I have) will colleges go so far as to check the high school roster, or will they not verify any information relating to things like sports, clubs, etc?

Don't lie on your resume to make yourself look better. They can go back and look, do you want the embaracement of being caught in a lie?

I highly doubt that they check each and every individual's application. Most likely they check the most promising individuals who will attend their school. Its best to not lie on your application, you might make a habit of doing that later in your life, which is a bad thing.

Of course they check that stuff. How do you think they pick from all of the applicants?

You should not lie.
