this sounds like a setup question. Good for you, anyway...but 10 months is too long for young folks. I suggest calling home, emailing, or writing a letter to someone back home.

that same thing happened to me 20 years ago. i just counted the days until i could go home -- i was really lonely.
i used to eat at Mcdonald's (i'm american) every Sunday, and write letters home. i also did stuff i liked and made friends that way. i traveled, and explored the city where i was living, knowing that i would never have this experience again, and i wanted to make the most of it. see if you can find clubs or groups or whatever that are interesting to you, like theater or chess or whatever. you could basically write a journal for the benefit of your friends and fam back home that don't have the benefit of being where you are, so they could experience it secondhand.

Join a "newcomers club" that way you will meet others who are new to the city..and they have fun getting together going out for meals etc...read the Sunday paper in the life section most cities usually put information for new arrivals there....best of luck...you might be in my city? lol...i wonder? take care....hugs Mama Jazzy Geri

my best friend is currently studying abroad and she is having the same problem....she found that if you try and find things that made you happy at home out there, you'll feel better. for example, if you drew a lot at home, draw out there. take paper outside and somehow incorporate your new home with something you used to do.

I'm a alien myself and know how you feel. I find it relaxing to find a quiet spot and think of the twin suns of Zantar and how much fun it was when my procreation units would take me to the beach there.

I think it may help to talk to family and friends from home alot. Get a webcam and talk to them online as often as possible. Ask them to send you care packages. Getting a package from home is always nice.
