When I was little we went trick-or-treating up at this house whose porch was really dimly lit. It had pumpkins and dark orange lights all over, and a porch swing with two scarecrows on it. We rang the doorbell, but no one answered. I was just reaching for the bell to try it one more time before we went onto the next house, when the scarecrows jumped up and yelled "Happy Halloween!" in these creepy voices (modified by little plugs you can get to change your voice). I think I fell down the stairs, and my sister was screaming all the way to the car. So I'd try something like that, only maybe as zombies or something more scary than innocent-looking scarecrows. Although, we didn't suspect them.

When I was younger, a neighbor dressed up in some God awful scary out fit and came knocking on the door L O N G after the trick-or-treating hours had passed. My mom "allowed" my sister and I to answer he door. she had unscrewed the lightbulb before hand, without our having noticed (after the last treaters came and left, I assume). When the light didnt come on, the only one to see by was the living room light, not very bright at all, really. We opened the door, no one was there. We stepped out, looking for treaters walking down the path and the 'boogy man' came frm around the corner of the house-- black nooded cape, gloved hands and dark face..the small amount of light from the room behind us helped him scare the living daylights out of us both!

Dress up like Micheal Jackson. haha

How old are the little kids? If they are younger than 7 or 8 it might not be such a great idea to get them afraid of the dark or a closet or whatever.
