Let's list the reasons I am FINALLY starting to be happy:
-- I FINALLY am an Empty-Nester -- after being a Long Term Single Parent of TWO Disabled Children (now adults) -- they are on their own. One made a very poor choice -- but it is their choice as an adult, and they have to deal with the ADULT consequences of that decision.
-- I was able to walk away from a VERY HORRID Marriage. I did just that -- my ex was abusive, violent, stole from me, damaged/destroyed property, alcoholic, mentally ill, etc etc etc. I PAID my way through giving up MY hard-Earned Savings to LEAVE -- and NEVER looked back.
-- I CAN SURVIVE. The Ex, through the approximately decade and a half AFTER the divorce has Stalked my Residence, filed lawsuits against me, stole my car, damaged my property, stole my property from my office and residence (multiple times, including recently), disappears, was a deadbeat dad -- and guess what -- MY EARNINGS provided EVERY BIT of EVERY THING that my children needed to grow into adults.
-- I STILL LIVE and BREATHE. I say this because of the FACT that my Ex did recently Burglarize my residence, and intended to come back -- he left evidence that he definitely was going to return. IF NOT for the FACT that I CARRY a personal Cell Phone, FELT something was wrong (in my gut), got to my front door and saw it was NOT the way it SHOULD BE and CALLED the POLICE, then waited in my vehicle for the OFFICER to arrive and FOUND my home burglarized, ...
I KNOW that I would NOT have lived through the return of the ex -- because he DEFINITELY STOLE a lot of property and was intending to assault and possibly finish trying to kill me (again) when he returned -- and I did hear a vehicle pass by and a hint it was him when I walked out of the house after seeing the damage with the officer. To breathe another breath, to have my heart beat, and to be here to type since that day about 2 months ago is ONLY by the GRACE of GOD.
-- That MY HARD WORK and EFFORTS provided for MY NEEDS. This is especially true since I had to bury my parents (with my younger siblings) as a very young adult -- I paid my own way through college, entered the Military, went up the ranks ... and RETIRED from Military Service -- granted, not totally healthy (I do have service connected injuries) but I DID Retire!
-- That I own my own home. This is a blessing that I EARNED and enjoy. I am now renovating it to age in place.
-- That I can enjoy NEW hobbies and Activities now in MY EARNED Retirement. I am going BACK to College now, for FUN -- I am taking Beginning Golf, going to sign up next semester for a Web Design Course, and Digital Photography Courses.
-- That my Military Service allowed me to see so much of this world we lived on. Never mind the good and bad times, and the things that I saw that no one should see .... The Military did allow me to see so many different cultures, countries, relics, events, and everything else -- that I consider this a blessing!
-- That I am a Proud American -- as a 2nd Generation American (my grandparents immigrated as indentured servants) -- I have enjoyed the opportunities for a better education and life than I would have had if the family had NOT emigrated to the US. This too, is a blessing.
