So i need to get me a new cell phone/smartphone.. and im on Verizon so im kinda limited to choices. i really can't decide between the Motorola Q or the i730.. Any opinions?

Samsung! It is a much better brand, and has made a very good name for the product. At this time I would not select Motorola due to the recent amount of repairs they have been having on new phones.

The Q is a better phone IMO. I had a 730 and the reception was horrible on it. I'd go for the Q if i were you.
