This website:

should answer most of your questions. It contains information about sciatica causes, symptoms, self-care, treatment, when to seek medical care, etc.
Doing a websearch for "sciatica treatment" (including the quotation marks) will bring up many pages for reference to this painful condition. (I have had this in the past, myself. Makes you feel like your leg is going to fall out from under you when it hits you suddenly! Mine was on the right.)

Check here a very effective Sciatica Natural Treatment ( http://cure-sciatica.info )
Normally, I would not answer a question like this as my expertise is generally in medication but I had severe sciatica while I was pregnant with my 3rd child (after having had twins) and I had sciatica so bad that I was finding it difficult to walk. I tried massage therapy and physical therapy and could not take medication
I went to the chiropractor and the pain was instantly relieved. My hips and lower back were out of alignment because I had carried twins the year before. On occasion a Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) can also work but they usually only work on one joint at a time - the chiropractor will do your whole back which works faster. Anyone who does not believe in chiropractors will tell you they are quacks - don't listen.
I don't necessarily believe that chiropractors can cure things like diabetes but they can definitely relieve some types of back pain especially if a pinched nerve is involved which is usually the cause of sciatica.

sciatica can cause numbness - since it's due to a pinched nerve. if the nerve is pinched just 'wrong', it can make it go numb. in some ways, that's better than the pain that sciatica can cause, but only so far! see a good doctor, get some decent painkillers, and stay off your feet. chiropractor can help too, but they always seem to want you to keep coming back for life, which is kinda expensive.

It's called siatica....which is the nerve going down the back of the leg from the spine. If you lie in bed and take your thumb and start at the top pf yout lower back start pushing on that nerve and hold for a few seconds, do this as far down as you can...on that nerve holding it that will stimulate it and get blood flowing to it. Also lie on side and rotate the hip and push on the buttocks where the nerve is, lightly and move around the hip socket as you rotate the joint. Then rub briskly but lightly, whatever is comfortable and get the blood flowing to that joint. Heat, moist if possible, is great. Chiropractor if you can afford it. Also. do stretching and soaking in tub with epsom salt. Good luck.
