Why worry about IQ? People with a low intelligent quotient are usually misinformed people with limited access to information. Furthermore, if someone were very smart, mature, and educated, they probably wouldn't need to come on the Internet and ask a bunch of strangers (who probably don't know either) the first question off of the top of their head. Let us not forget who asked the question at hand... Ultimately, the idea behind asking a question is to get an answer. What I worry about, is someone taking this information TOO seriously, and using it as "advice". That may require a much lower IQ than asking the question in the first place. After all, the only stupid question is the one not asked

I was thinking that exact same thing Friday night after I ran into a few of those ..I was wondering if maybe "answers '' should be grouped by age ...but after giving that some thought...I realized they'd get bored with it too , and who's to say they would not infiltrate the ages ..The IQ isn't the only thing that comes to mind..I'm afraid it goes deeper than that . Maturity is only part of it .

I see your point. I believe what we may be observing is a failure in the schools to teach people to spell and write. However, please keep in mind that you are also dealing with people from all over the world who don't speak English as a first language. I'm writing from China. Also, this is pretty much for entertainment purposes, don't you think? And I'm sure that there are lots of young kids asking questions just to see if they can get a rise out of people (kinda like when I was a kid, making prank phone calls). Just because they ask, doesn't mean you have to give an answer. It is quite entertaining, don't you think?

I know what you're saying. While some of them are humorous, others it feels like they're just putting their two cents in just because they can - not that it even really applies to what you're talking about!
It might be nice to have an option when creating a question to limit those who can answer by age or certain other factors (like if you only wanted boys to answer, or other fans of jazz, etc.). But then it might make signing up to Yahoo Answers too complicated.
So far, the only goal for anyone to post anything intelligent is their "Best Answer" award. Though, clearly this isn't incentive enough for some people. ;)

I absolutely agree with you! But some of the answers are very original and entertaining. And I always get good recipes from this site.
The answers I dislike usually have crude, anatomically impossible suggestions.
The students asking for complete answers to their homework irk me. I thought the idea was to think things out and draw your own conclusions; but I'm probably just an old "spoilsport" who is annoyed because we didn't have YAHOO ANSWERS when I was in school (back when dinosaurs roamed...) to make things easier.
Anyway, I look forward to reading more comments and answers and the occasionally bizarre question.
ENJOY!

take every answer with a grain of salt. see if it is logical. or can be backed up. and remember wise words offen come from the mouth of babes. it is up to you to judge the quality of the answer. and not really the person that answered it.
and the questions. well some people have serious questions, and some are just bored.

I also have sciatica and have experienced it going down my left leg every once in a while. Most times it is on my right side, all the way to my feet being numb. Not good when I was driving taxi!!

I don't look at a lot of the questions or the wording of them. Just give my opinion and move on. I want to get to level 3. Thanks for the points.
