I always prefer to remain single. U can enjoy the 'bliss of solitude' ... through freedom, independence & flexibility. U can involve urself into much more works in ur fields of interest instead of wasting hours in having romantic conversation or unnecessary bickerings. Why the hell will u allow another person to hamper the spontaneous flow of ur life ? Commitments, compromise, sacrifice 'n all - I'm not sure if these exist or not after marriage. Marriage is a sort of captivity. Who says unmarried life means boring loneliness ? It's good to have some real friends who'll really stand by u, when u're in disaster.

I'm not saying that being single does necessarily mean everything is better than being married. If u remain single, u've to handle urself single-handedly ... with much more care 'n a lot of responsibilities for ownself.

I've been married for 24 years and I think the only way to stay married and prefer it to being single is by giving each other the freedom to make their own choices and not being each other's boss. At times, my husband just needs space and at other times, I do. We respect each other and give the space when needed without questioning. We also do not say "no" to each other. If I am interested in taking a class, or changing jobs, my husband will be instantly supportive. I do the same with him and I would never think of questioning his motive. So, being married and having the "rules" that we do makes for a wonderful, amazing marriage. I think I'll stay married for another 24 years and my hubbie says the same.

Single life is great, but it would be nice to share my experiences with one special person I could grow with. I think I live an awesome life, so sharing it with someone would be a ton of fun!! It really nice to be able to gain someone else's perspective on the things of life.

they both have cool aspects to them
single -- freedom to do what u want when u want, pack up and move on a moment's notice, try new things, be crazy and irresponsible, travel, go out with inappropriate people for the heck of it (free food)
marriage -- loving, committed relationship, someone in your corner, who has to listen to how your day went, who gets your jokes, always have a date for New Year's, stability, no more nagging from parents abt u need to settle down.

If you have the true love of a good woman then there is nothing better than marriage.

I love being married and I think I heard the best explanation of it on "Shall We Dance?" when Susan Serandon said that people who get married have a witness to their life and that is what we all want. I love my soul mate hubby with all my heart and love the sanctity of our union and wouldn't trade it for my life. And you can take that to the bank.

Marriage, in theory. Having someone there for you, as well as you for them. The reality is not always so idyllic, but I haven't given up on the possibility of trying again.
