Look harder. There are some really good, authentic style restaurants out there.
Are you ordering the specials?
Try Acapulco (family owned, not the franchise chain) on Lincoln Avenue in Alameda, CA, or one of our wonderful Taquerias. I agree that the taco truck can give you great taste, great value.

I grew up on my Grandmother's (and 6 Aunt's) cooking and to be quite honest, nothing comes even close. Now with my biased opinion out of the way...In my exprience I have found that if you can find a Mexican restaurant owned and run by a mexican family you can get pretty close. There are actually two here in Columbus, OH that come pretty close and I eat at each frequently. So find a good place, make nice with the owner and visit frequently and you will find that the food will get better every time!

El Sol is a small kin owned and operated Mexican eating place in inner-city Indianapolis. they have been in organization for quite a few years now and that they have got been efficient for the reason that Day a million. The food is amazing, the anybody is welcoming, the region is clean and appealing, and the fees are honest. i like the fowl chimichanga coated in melted white cheese and served with tremendously spiced rice, refried beans, and clean %. de gallo.

While I am not Mexican or of Latino descent, I find the best Mexican restaurants are little holes in the wall and when you walk in you see Latinos and Hispanics. That means it's really authentic when you see the locals there. It's true for all ethnicities and cuisines. I love my little local Mexican restaurant.

You are correct - in Mexican Restaurants no one cares a Damn.
They do not welcome you or ask you to come again. When they bring food or condiments - they just shove it in front of you. It is most unseemly.
