here the question of ethics does not arise ,but before consuming meat one is to think for a moment whether it is good for health or not, i mean whether it contains bad cholesterol or not which is not good for people as it precipitates, diabetes, hypertension and heart problems. I FEEL MEAT CONSUMPTION IS SEVERAL THOUSANDS BETTER THAN KILLING INNOCENT HUMAN BEINGS BY INVADING THEIR COUNTRIES OR KILLING THEM IN THE NAME OF RELIGION.some people made wrong observations that by birth human beings are non vegetarians. it is wrong. meat eating is a learned behaviour. people belonging to some religions like jainism do not eat meat. many people belonging to some castes in hindu religion do not eat meat.

Do you think it is ok to consume dog meat? Why or why not? It's sad but we eat cows, goats, pigs etc. - these animals are sacred in some countries. Are you a vegetarian? Nope Do you consume pork? Yes "/ WHY (and here is the biggest question) is it ok, in your mind, to consume pork, but not dog meat? It isn't. If I could HANDLE being vegetarian, I would, but I honestly couldn't. I am cutting down on the meat I eat though. Pigs are without argument the MOST intelligent domesticated species. End of question. They are HIGHLY intelligent. VERY clean animals. Dogs do things on a daily basis that pigs would NEVER do. Pigs would NEVER eat the feces of another pig. Pigs would NEVER defecate near where they eat. Many dogs will and do. Why is it ok to kill such an intelligent, clean animal? An animal that is undoubtedly more intelligent then our canine friends? I totally agree. Both are extremely intelligent. But sadly what's right or wrong and what's wrong and right is different in each country. IMO, any animal that is bred for it, is treated perfectly etc., that's fine. Slaughter houses? Jeez no.

If living beings such as humans and animals don't consume organic matter, they will just starve. There is no ethical difference between eating meat and eating vegetables, because plants are alive, too. As long as we humans don't figure out a way to absorb energy directly from the sun, we will always be faced with this ethical dilemma.

I eat meat because it is food. I am very strict about not eating things that are not food.

The reasoning that causes me to refrain from consumption of meat varies. Sometimes I am not hungry, sometimes the meat smells like it may be spoiled, and sometimes it is a particularly disgusting species of meat like deep fried Catfish.

It is not an ethical issue for me at all. God created the Food Chain, not me. He didn't even ask my opinion about it beforehand. If there is any ethical problem with my participation in the Food Chain, it is God's problem, not mine.

I have no problem eating meat because it says I should in the bible.
1 Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. 4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: 5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

Genesis 9:2 "And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be on every beast of the earth, on every bird of the air, on all that move [on] the earth, and on all the fish of the sea. They are given into your hand. 3 "Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. I have given you all things, even as the green herbs."

1 Corinthians 10: 25 Eat whatever is sold in the meat market, asking no questions for conscience' sake; 26 for "the earth [is] the Lord's, and all its fullness."

plus there are many many more.

i do however try to avoid commercial meats due to steroids, and such. i try to buy natural beef and such, usually from australia and it is cheaper, because your not paying for the drugs.I also hunt ,and fish, however i do not take more than my family can eat in a years time. venison(deer) is healthier due to lower fat content and tastes like sheep.fish is also another favorite of mine the main ones being tuna, flounder, salmon, and catfish. and are also very good for you.

from personal freinds of mine i seen the difference in a pure vegan and one that is an omnivore(eats plants and animals). the odd thing was that they are brothers both same height but the older one(the vegan) is weaker, almost anorexic looking, had very poor posture, and was sick alot. the other brother on the otherhand was the proper weight ,has a very good build, very good posture and was rarely sick

so those are my reasons, avodances, and beliefs

yes
keep in mind if your against it then genrally you a secualr person and do not belive in god, the bible ect.. hence your views...
if however you are even a bit religious you have no problem in us eating meat ( and that means all animal flesh ), so ultimately it's a question of core values that determine weather or not you have any issues or not with meat consumption

I feel no moral responsibility toward animals other then humans.
Why should I? Animals do not owe any responsibility to me.
If i get killed by an animal -- is the animal to blame? If I am in trouble would an animal help me? Do animals Pay taxes for the good of all? No and No and No.
Thus animals are not a part of moral community, thus they have no responsibilities, thus they have no rights, thus they can be used for any purpose whatsoever -- including consumption of their flesh.

I feel that it is ethical to eat meat. God made animals to feed on other animals. Humans are no exception. We are all animals, just of different breeds.

The reasoning behind my meat consumption is simple. You have to eat something, and that something has to die for you to eat it.

Vegetarians may pride themselves on being concious of the pain of animals, but think of all the plants that they kill regularly for consumption. For all we know plants scream in a wavelength we can't hear as we slowly kill them by first plucking them, and then preparing them for eating.

The only guiltless beings are plants who can turn sunlight into food. Until we can do that, we'll jut have to keep killing other things to satiate ourselves.

Of course it's ethical, if it wasn't there wouldn't be any meat markets and special cuts, or they wouldn't sell it anywhere at your local grocery store, organic meat is best.

Meat is good on special occasions and in moderation, I prefer fish, healthier.

First, I don't remember where I read this. I read that humans are omniverous. We have the teeth and digestive systems for both plants and animals. We have the teeth for both tearing meat and grinding plants. Examples are cats have teeth for tearing meat and elephants have teeth for grinding plants. So God must have intended for us to eat both.
