The best thing to do is to write about something that you feel or that you've experienced. This is where your best writing will come from. It could even be something that other people would think is trivial but when you write from your heart it will turn out great.
You should also read your poem out loud after you have written it to see how it sounds. It should sound good as well as look good on paper. Good Luck!

Love poems, poems about the weather, and poems about teen angst are so overdone and cliche so try doing something that's very different, something that hasn't been done before. Maybe you should try writing a poem on a subject that you have a very strong opinion about. One of the poems that I just wrote today was about chastity, a subject that you don't often hear in poems.
Just be open-minded and let everything inspire you and something will come in mind.

i know what you mean, poetry is hard sometimes. try something that has effected you in life. maybe a death or divorce in the family? i know it sounds stupid but my friend died when he was 15, and when i have to write poems for classes, i write about him and it ALWAYS turns out good. The poem that enspired me was "the dash poem" by linda ellis. try reading it, it gave me ideas for a LOT of poems! hope this helps a little. :)
if you were looking for happy poems im sorry this didnt help!!

I've always liked the poems about the local area of the author.
If you are in school, maybe the local hang out or the coffee shop. Maybe about a local shrine or museum.
Luck!

awesome question - i was just speaking w/ my sister about this.
i was kidding about - - " i like poems to rhyme "
not totally kidding though :(
i would love to read a poem about : a girl (woman) who loves life to the fullest - but is being held back by the man she loves.
she also feels like she is missing out on things she used to love but has no offering of that?
gee- - how's that for an idea?

Bukowski was an old soul that resented being thrust back into the "waters" but stood firm on the bowels of men, ripping at them till they bled through the bandages. He told us much and choose his path. How else would we know what it's like to live among the ruins

ever have one of those moments that sticks with you for a long time ? something fantastic, or awful, or magical in some way, or memorable ? or dreams? or ...sensations ? something that you'll always remember, or that hit you deep? easier to write about something you really experience(d) / thought / felt.
