I don't know why the Democrats feel this way.
I do know someone will give me a thumbs down for the rest of my answer and I really don't give a rat's b**t about it.
I do know there are US citizens that are funding and or involved with terrorist acts. So the fact that they would act against our(their) home country in my opinion strips them of their rights as US citizens.
Our Government should be able to get whatever information out of these slim balls they can. Have a trail and throw them in federal prison to live out the rest of his/her life.

I believe that first we grant US citizens constitutional rights (which means they are not terrorists until they have been proven guilty). After they are proven guilty of terrorism, they should be dealt with in whatever legal means the country wishes.
What makes us great is that we are a country of laws. If you want to torture terrorists, by all means go do so. All I ask is that you create a law that says this is acceptable behavior. By having laws, we draw a clear distinction between what we accept and reject and, thus, ensure that people are treated as we wish them to be. If you wish harm on them, then go for it. Just makes sure you have the balls to put in writing that you condone torture.

Because you, as a citizen of the United States can be deemed an enemy combatant at the whim of the Department of Defense. Now, I understand you trust and love GW, but just suppose for a minute that someone you loathe and whose policies you fear and who you absolutely do not trust....someone say like Nancy Pelosi became President. And she decided to go after her political enemies.... guess what? the checks and balances are being removed and you wouldn't have any recourse once your silly azz was locked away in Gitmo.
In going after the terrorists who "hate us for our freedom" we are becoming less free.
Many democrats and republicans really do not take the constitution as lightly as GW who proclaimed "it's just a god-damned piece of paper".

It does not matter. Under the 6th Amendment is says "ANY PERSON" is covered if they are under the jurisdiction of the US Governent. You should have the right to know what your charges are against you, who is testifying and the evidence.
If ANY ONE can be arrested under the Military Commissions Actt, than ANY ONE is entitled to habeas corpus protection as well as a right to a fair trial and due process. You have to love these terrorism striken Bushbots.

Because they falsely believe that if we treat them nice, they will not hurt us. Liberals do not understand evil as it exists.
