McCain bashed the religous right a few years ago.
Now he wants their votes.
I agree with your assesment.

When did he "woo" the religious right? The Republicans are so broad based now the religious right is a small minority of the party's base. Facts are the religious right scares away a majority of the moderates who vote Republican, so the GOP is happy to keep them the silent minority.
The leader of the religious right, Pat Buchanan has not been relevant since Reagan was in office. Their time of running the GOP has passed. They are part of the collage of Americans who support the party, but they are no longer the base.

Excited or no longer, this is totally not likely that any Republican is going to vote for Obama and his socialist platform. extra constructive McCain attempt to dissuade Clinton supporters from helping Obama - a daunting job when you consider that both Obama and Clinton sing from a similar hymn e book.

My verdict is still out on McCain. I dont know enough about him just yet. What I do know about him makes me uneasy at best. I know many in my party think negatively of him. Looks like he may be a front runner in 08. Plenty of time to do homework on him.

Beacuse he needs them to win...they are a very powerful sect of the country and if he doesnt get them, the vote will be split and he may not get the nomination

Sounds like a presidential run to me. If he had went with Kerry as his vice president in 2004 he might of had a shot.

Just wait until you see Hilary doing it...
Frankly, no one can win without the Christians in this country...
The liberals' 30 year attack on this country's foundation pretty nigh guaranteed this outcome...

LMAO No politician is their "own man" !!! They are all beholden to special interests.Even the ones I like are.Republicans can't get elected without the religious right. That's why they are so screwed up!!!!!!!!! They may not be half bad if they weren't beholden to them but the fact is they all are! McCain is no different.
