Yeah, but there are different interfaces like SATA, or IDE. You can get an external enclosure and put the hard drive in there. To boot to Windows, go into your BIOS and look for boot from USB device or something like that. But some laptops don't support that. If you just want pictures, music, documents, and movies, just plug the usb in and Windows should detect it. Get an external exclosure from newegg.com, the have good prices.

The easiest way to access your hard drive in this situation is to use a live version distribution of a linux O/S, I use Knoppix live cd. just set up your boot order for CD Rom/floppy/hd0, and allow the cd to boot the machine and then you can access all your files and burn them to cd if you need to, Knoppix linux live cd has a cd burning software built in so its no problem. Unless your hard drive has had a meltdown this will work.

If Windows has crashed, remember it's on your hard drive. No matter what computer you plug it into, it's still gonna be crashed on your hard drive. So, no. good luck though :-)

hi.to start a computer u don't need the complete size of OS.with bootable floppy/disk which contains startup files ,u can start ur computer in windows environment.try first with bootable floppy,if it starts then using ur OS, setup the OS again in ur system.
