I have GeForce 6150 LE, 256 MB which has gotten old. I'm planning to get EVGA e-GeForce 7300 GT 512MB PCI Video Card. My question is, is it better than GeForce 6800, a famous one?

Another question, how would I know whether my desktop is AGP or PCI? I bought it in May this year.

Should I take my pc to Circuitcity (from where i bought it) to upgrade the Graphics card? Or I can do it? FYI, I still have 18 months of warranty left.

But they are selling that at $160 when some others are selling at $130.

Well first you would need to find out what type of slot you use, all have PCI, but AGP and PCI Express are both better so you want to use those if you have them. It should say in your manual under the specs. Anyway if you do decide to buy that card, buy it here:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130024
and install it yourself, it is easy and that will save you another $40. If you do have PCI Express or AGP and want to pick another card (which would be a good idea) email me and I can help you.

An AGP slot is a brown slot that is located right above your PCI slots. If you have this, get AGP. Do it yourself. All you have to do is unscrew it and pop it out of the PCI slot. The new card will pop in the same way. If you're getting an AGP card, there's a small lever on the end of the brown slot that you need to slide over to get the card in, then slide it back once the card is inserted. This process is definately not worth paying so much to places like circut city for.

I really suggest you search www.newegg.com for a video card, it will be nearly half the price of what you would pay in the store. The 7300 is better I believe.

Also remember there is a difference between PCI and PCI express

i would say you have agp but im not sure ... look under device manager/system devices and see if you have a pci express root ... if not then ur probably agp and you can get a better agp card than the 7300 ... i know ive seen a 7600agp card for the same price and i think thers a 7800agp as well .. not sure on the price ...the 7300 wont be anything to write home about and i would try to get alittle bit better one... if you do have pciX which it looks like you might after googling ur old card, i would spring for a 7900 or 7950 myself ... get driver cleaner here ...

and remove ur old driver before installing the new card :)

To know if your desktop has an agp or pci-ex port download the program Everest Home Edition from Softpedia:

Everest will tell you all you need to know about your system.

Much best than a 7300GT is a Sapphire X1300XT that you can buy for 80 bucks:
