Sure.
People need weapons, US need money.
What can be simpler?
After all weapons do not kill people -- people kill people, one way or another.

No, it's not ethical. However the strongest and most influential countries are also the top merchants of weaponry. The US, Israel, China, Russia, Great Britian, and maybe Germany all sell weapons and have great influence in the world. If we did not sell weaponry, then we would not be a military power.

A better question would be is it ethical to have/make weapons in the first place? Of course it's not ethical but everybodys got to make a living.

No, although I wouldn't mind so much if it was limited to staunch, stable allies such as the United Kingdom.

We've done so much weapons dealing with different middle eastern countries it leaves us looking rather bad with the way things have gone during the reigns [oh excuse me, I meant to say administrations] of Bush the elder and the Shrub. And that's just the official dealings, not even counting the covert Ollie North kind of thing.

Is it ever ethical to sell anybody something which purpose is to take another life. Well many people would probably say yes. It does follow the rules of my enemies enemy is my friend. But remember, both Iraq and Afghanastan were US allies once.
I don't think its smart business, and personally I find it very unethical and often stupid.

Why not? Arms deals make us money and friends. Plus can assist in paying off debts we owe to other countries.
