I know a guy who changed his last name to Sparrow. I thought that was kind of cool. It depends on your first name. I would go to a site where you can look up names by their meaning and find a word that either describes you or what you aspire to be and go from there.
such as:
http://www.babycentre.co.uk/babyname/
Like lets say that you aspire to bring peace to the land, you might choose "Amani"
Good Luck
And BTW you can change your name to whatever you want, you just have to prove to a judge that you aren't doing it to avoid a debt and you have to pay for it. But if I could find a name I really liked, and i didn't think it would so deeply wound my parents, I would change my entire name in a heartbeat.

As far as I know, you can't pick a last name out of a hat when you divorce. It either automatically goes back to your maiden name or stays your married name.

I think you should change your name to what best fits you and your first name, Like if your Name is Joan then maybe Joan purpleshirt, but if your name is say, bonni be sure not to choose a name that starts with a "J" other wise youll be known as "BJ"

A last name is a huge choice. You should seriously try and make it mean something, I suggest going back into your ancestry. A name that holds some heartfelt personal sentiment would be best.

maybe "single"? lol... one of my favorite last names ever is Shikendanz... I forget the actual spelling, but it's pronounced "shick a dance".
If you want to avoid a lot of the people you talked to, change your last name to something generic like Jones, Jackson, or Smith.
You can take my last name... Barber... =D
