does anybody have any good ideas for a halloween costume? we have a contest at my work and i want to win first place but am having a hard time coming up with an award winning costume. would appreciate any help thanks

How about you go as a gunfighter/cowboy. Dress up in all black, with a black trench or duster. Get a toy gun from walmart or something.
Also, you could be an old movie character, like the tin man or scarecrow from Wizard of Oz (or the lion!)
Gangster from the 1920's (zoot suit, feathered hat, boa)

Something easy, yet catchy....
Can't go wrong with The Crow. =) Just some black makeup here and there along with black clothing and possibly a long coat to add to the "mood".

be an e/r doctor. wear scrubs, have a face mask tied but hanging down on your shirt, borrow a stethoscope, add shoe covers and a name tag.
