my friend got cought with 2 lbs of marijauna in his house after a raid he was selling it he has been to court several times to be sentenced but they keep resculding it this has been like his 5th time why do they keep doing that and what do u think he will get out of it he has no previous record of any trouble

That is just the nature of the judicial system. Often it is for stupid reasons--like a lawyer or someother person could not be there. There are sometimes strategic reasons one side or the other might do this e.g. to get a favorable judge, etc. Sometimes the pre-sentencing report or something like that is not complete. If there is suppose to be testimony at the sentencing hearing perhaps a witness is not available. Sometimes the court is busy doing something more pressing.

In sum--it is just typical of the system. A lot of it could be avoided. But--in the case of a criminal defendant--most often any kind of delay works to their advantage in some way.

It is impossible to give any kind of prediction on what will happen. I don't know the jurisdiction. I don't know any of the facts of the case. I don't know the laws convicted under. I don't know the strategy of defense counsel.

Stay out of this one. Don't talk about the situation to anyone, not him or your closest friend. You can't improve the situation, but you can muck it up much worse than you can imagine.

Its common that hearings get rescheduled. Probably he will get conditional probation or a short stay in jail.
