rfamilyme.. is correct with his answer. it all took place and had to do with the fall of the Roman Empire. what took place after the Middle Ages was the Renaissance. so, i see it as a necessary happening to make way for the Renaissance. also, people lost their whole concept of hygiene, which is why the black plague took off & killed so many people. The people didn't bathe often and threw their trash into the city streets, which is why there were so many rats so close to the people. (rats were the origin of the black plague).

The beauty of the Greek and Roman Empires is long gone! The ruling system has collapsed and taken with it stable gevernment, schools, libraries, a uniform currency, and a common language. Barter now replaces money as the major purchasing system. Cities and towns have been destroyed and transportation between them is extremely difficule, if not impossible.
This era is not without gevernment though. The Roman Catholic Church remains a strong unifying force. In addidion, medival civilization clings to a very simple form of government called " feudalism."
Within the feudal system existed many smaller feudal states, usually located around a castle or cathedral and consisting of farmers, laborers and craftsmen. These communities gave service and sought protection from the local lord or noble
A definite class system existed in these medieval communities. Also, these early feudal states were self-sufficient, trading little with outsiders. Eventually though, smaller villages grew together more and more. Nobles would combine forces to wage war and qcquire larger kingdomw. Often these leaders would die or fall to squabbling, and kingdoms would fall appart. But in the long-run, with states growing and comquering, a stable culture was reborn.

There are not any "credible sites that tell intimately all of the terrible issues the church did because it gained skill throughout the darkish a while." Historians no longer use the term "darkish a while" because of fact it become in simple terms incorrect, and consistent with propaganda. For better than one thousand years, the only corporation construction faculties and hospitals, and the only corporation offering nutrition and guard for the unfavourable...become the church. It geared up and ran the monasteries that have been conserving awareness, based the 1st universities, and become, via far, the biggest source of help for technological know-how. In one thousand advert, the Pope become...the main achieved scientist in Europe. interior the Spanish Inquisition, incorrect-headed because it become, with civil government working it, no longer the Church, killed fewer human beings each 300 and sixty 5 days than Texas executes on the instant. yet cheer up, the internet is done of intentionally distorted background. evaluate going with actual background.

The Fall of the Roman Empire, the punishment of higher level thinkers, torture, and I think the Huns and other murderous rebels. What region are you talking about specifically?

They were dark because we know very little about them. That is, historians are "in the dark" about the goings-on.
