your mom might see it as a effeminate spirit. Also the Bible speaks against piercings and tatoos. Leviticus 19:27-29

I see two different issues here. One is your mom freaking out and the other is what the Bible says. On the first point, if you're living in her house (or your family home) and your mom asks you not to get your ear pierced, I think you need to respect that. She might be wrong or old-fashioned, but she's still your mom. It would be really nice if you could talk to her and tell her that she doesn't need to quote God's word to you because you're willing to listen to her in any case.

Ear piercing in the Old Testament days was used when a slave decided that he wanted to continue to serve his master out of love instead of obligation. The master would take the slave to a wooden doorpost and make a hole in their ear and they'd wear a ring. That ring symbolized that the slave was now a "love slave", serving by choice. Looking at it that way, the symbolism of a small ring in the ear is quite beautiful.

But the Bible also tells us not to tattoo or cut our body and, even though we're no longer under "the law" I think it's important to weigh up our reasons and make sure it's not just to be cool, or to be part of a group, but for personal reasons.

Hope this helps. God bless you.

there is a mention of stuff like that in the bible but it was Old testament. What most bible beaters forget is what Jesus said "forget the ways of the old and only remember this Love your neighbor" Does your mother do that?
There is nothing wrong with getting your ears pierced and she just doesn't want you to do it and throws the 'good word' wrongly into it. Unfortanlty if your to young...your to young and will have to wait until your a little bit older. There is nothing wrong w/guys getting their ears pierced and personally I think it's hot!! LOL

BTW that first response I reported Jerk!

The bible says something about our body being a temple for God. I say that I am only decorating the temple- lol! Go ahead and get your ear pierced.

I think you should sit down with your mom and discuss it. You should respect your mom even if you do not agree with her, then when you grow up and leave home then you can get your ear pierced.

well the Bible says that your body is a temple..and it's not your it's God's...so there isn't like a verse that says don't get your ears pierced it's just kinda what you decide..if i was you i would pray about it and see what God wants you to do..good luck

ear piercing was a sign of bond servanthood (slavery). If your mom is against it do not do it while you live in her home.
It will not send you to Hell and it never said it was a sin.The only sin that will send you to Hell is not accepting Jesus and his sacrifice.
