I think that people are reluctant to cover it because the victims are embarrassed, definitely. (Most rapes, even out of jail, go unreported because of the victims feeling ashamed.) It DEFINITELY needs to be taken care of and is one of the issues I feel strongly about. This desperately needs to be addressed. Thanks for asking this, I hope it made a lot of people think.

Well its not dinner talk that's for sure. People still don't believe women half the time when they are raped let alone a guy. Prison rape, like all rape is about control, not sex. But frankly, when you are in a same sex environment, who exactly do you expect to get raped? I don't have alot of sympathy for criminals who get raped. I do however feel like non victim crimes like minor drug use and prostitution have no business having prison sentences.

Are you insane? A leopard can no longer substitute its spots. you want to be his punching bag too? you will become that express female he likes to conquer the **** out of, no remember how lots he "replaced" or how lots he "loves" you. Abusers don't have the flexibility for love. Of all of the lads interior the worldwide, why could you even walk interior of 500 yards of this guy? My expert prognosis is to pour chilly water on your face and wisen up.

I'm not reluctant I just don't hear about it. I hear about heterosexual white men raping children and I hear there are rapes in prison...good question.

I think there are NUMEROUS reasons why people do not want to discuss these issues. One possible reason is that the victims feel that their masculinity is being diminished by not being able to stop the rapist.
With other violencem, they feel that they should have been able to prevent it.
Expectations of society forces these victims to suffer in silence.

idk, but I have recently seen articles about HIV and AIDS in prison populations, something that needs to be confronted because those men are bringing it home to their wives and girlfriends, then passing it on to their babies. Distributing condoms in prisons would be to admit that prisoners are having sex w/each other; can we handle it?

great question - i just think that people are thinking about "other" things - ie: child sexual abuse - i think that "most" people think that once "they" are in prison - - "we don't have to worry about "them" anymore.
sad - but, true.

sex, consensual or otherwise, is not allowed between inmates, or between guards and inmates. Yet, as we all know, it still happens. Rape and sexual assault is about power. But to answer your question, what we don't know won't hurt us.
