I'm tired of all these bs answer that say "how would you like to work for 5.15 an hour"? The wage should have NOTHING to do with it, and if it does, GO FIND ANOTHER JOB THAT PAYS MORE. I have no problem with anyone who works fast food, but if they take out their hatred for the job on me I do have a problem. They are paid a wage to do a job. More often times than not they SCREW UP MY ORDER and it does get frustrating. It's fast food, so of course we want it fast. And SMILE. I'm paying your wages!!! If you don't like the little amount of money your being paid you have every right to look for another job, just like every other American does. But if you're one of the rare nice fast food workers, then you set an excellent example for the other ones who give you all bad names.

In defense of Fast Food workers everywhere....just exactly how would you handle a lobby full of people and a drive-thru going nuts with about 8 to 9 people (if your lucky). Keep in mind the industry standard is max 3 minute line time (that would be the time from the point you get in line until you are served) and includes you digging for change, as well as making up your mind and making your order as special as only you (the customer) can make it. The more complicated you make things (like ordering for 4 other people thru the drive-thru everything special) the longer it takes to assemble.
Drive-thru's were designed to speed through small simple orders.....for one or two people. But they caught on and now industry wide a normal drive-thru will handle more than 55% of a units business. Wild thought isn't it.
Why is it that you are far more criticial of a 16 yr old working in a fast food resturaunt worker than you are of your paperboy? Why do you tell them to get a "real" job and don't give them any respect when they are trying to feed you? No one likes to make mistakes in any job, but it seems to be okay to yell and throw food at the 70 yr old woman trying to add to her SSI money by working part-time. You'd never think of it if you were in a bank.
Why do you belittle the people that put on those STUPID uniforms everyday after school or their fulltime jobs and bust their butts to serve you...the UNGRATEFULL public? It is not their fault you are running late, or that you are having a bad day. And yet they always bare the brunt..
I have seen kids really work hard and have a great time and do amamzing things in the fast food world...so many of them have goals and dreams and make great grades at school and are trying to do things right and earn money. They don't try to forget your fries or put tomatoes on that burger when you said mayo...easily fixed not the end of the world, but I have seen grown men scream and rant at the sight of a pickle! I have seen people berate and belittle teenagers because they forgot a ketchup packet in a bag (hey, there are some on the counter for you to help yourself). And they are the same people who don't want kids loose on the streets just hanging out...
Fast food is a hard, demanding, stressfull job. It very much is a REAL job and the people who work it deserve your respect each and every day. You would be surprised how quickly people will move when they feel they are respected. In any job in any corner of any place....

uhhmmmm.... it seems like ur one of those customers that expects so much outta an employee. I can't stand that. I am only 18 but I work my butt off as a manager at a charo chicken (semi-fast food restaurant) and some people dont realize how much work there is and just want ur food so fast... when theres so much to do like preparation, cooking so the food doesn't taste bad, and especially when it gets really busy and u can only do so many things at one time. and yes, patence is the key. But i know whatchu mean bout some employees.. such as ones that work at mcdonalds... not to rag on them, but it's just like that here in so-cal.
vvv By the way, i like the girl's answer below mine. (=

OK, I get your point. Yes, it seems like the employees at a fast food restaurant should realize that when people go to FAST food restaurants, it's because they don't have a lot of time to wait. Sometimes, they seem to not really care whether you get served quickly or not. That's because they are minimum wage employees who are thinking about what they are going to do when they get off work, and they get paid the same amount whether they bust a** or not. Maybe they should be paid by the number of orders they fill??!!

Consider what they are dealing with, impatient people such as yourself. It's fast food, not instant. You want it fresh, but you don't want to wait... you have to give them a few minutes. Try working there for a week, you'd understand. If you are a good employee you bust your a** for min wage and go home smelling like a greasy fry vat.
If you are in that big of a hurry, don't stop for food.
