Sugars are carbon compounds, and organic materials are generally not considered minerals.
Table sugar generally comes from one of two plants: sugar cane or sugar beets. While several people have said it's "not natural", it really is a very simple plant-based product. Basically you boil the plant in water until the water boils away and what's left are sugar crystals.
Many other natural products--from both plant and animal sources--contain sugars. Besides sugar cane and sugar beets, the best known plant that produces sugar is corn. The best known animal sugar prosucts are honey and milk.

Because the other minerals would get jealous of its sexiness. I get turned on just by it's mere name. I open my mouth and it caresses my tonge. I touch it with my fingertips and it makes my skin tingle. I take a handful and love myself with it because it's necesary to use this new mineral for all it's worth. I feel jealousy when someone else gets their share and I, I, I.... I come, closer to understanding its delicious flavour every spoonful at the time. Sugar, don't let me go.

because sugar is a carbohydrate, carbohidate is a organic compound of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. all the componen are nonhomogenous composition. but a mineral is norganic substance occurring in nature, having a characteristic and homogeneous chemical composition, definite physical properties, and, usually, a definite crystalline form.

the real reason is, it's a organic molecule. Minerals are single atoms, such as iron, calcium, and sodium. Sugar is a mix of carbon, oxygen and hydrogen.

Sugar can't be mined. It's plant based, but has to be artificially manipulated and extracted from the sugar cane. Lots of processing!

There are many types of sugars, dextrose, sucrose, levulose, fructose, glucose; all organic compounds.
BTW, an organic compound is defined as being comprised of carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen.
