alcohol during any time in pregnancy is bad...consider this

an adult has 4 liters of blood in their system and an unborn baby less than 1 liter.

if your blood alcohol is 25% times that by 4 for your baby, making it nearly 100% alcohol.

pretty bad odds don'tcha think??

yes drinking during pregnancy is very bad People tell me all the time it OK to have a glass of wine or a bottle of beer here and there won't harm my baby. but I haven't touched either since I found out I was expecting. and I believe you or your friend should do the same especially if you are the type that doesn't know your limit. your baby could get really sick and yourself as well. So try and take better care I know how hard it is to behave when all your friends are out on the town. but in a couple of months you will have a baby in your arms and it will all be worth it. You want to have a healthy bad not a sick bad that hard to care for. Good luck to you and your baby I hope you do the right thing from now on.

If this is a question you are asking in seriousness, who ever it is that is doing the drinking, whether it be you or someone you know, know this. ANY drinking at ANY time during a pregnancy WILL effect the baby. PERIOD. ALSO..it is not only STUPID, but you or the person drinking can have the baby taken away. If this is not you, you need to report this person to the health department immediately. We're talking about a human life here, not a batch of kittens or puppies. Even that would be illegal.

Alcohol is a teratogen, meaning it is a substance that can cause birth defects if consumed by the mother. It is very dangerous to consume alcohol in the 1st trimester and much less dangerous in the 2nd and 3rd. So it's not likely that your baby will have FAS however, it is still possible that the alcohol could negatively impact your baby.

What is so dangerous about consuming alcohol during pregnancy is that it crosses the placental barrier easily...so easily that your baby receives 100% of the alcohol you consume, and in the form you consumed it in.

yes at any time during pregnancy alchohol can cause fetal alchohol syndrome not to mention if caught you can actually be arrested.

My mother is a GYN and seen many of her patients get arrested for getting caught drinking, some were put in a home and when they had their babies they had them taken away from them and had to prove they were fit to get them back

it depends on how much alcohol that you consume over a period of time. but even a little alcohol over time can cause what they call fetal alcohol effects.

fetal alcohol syndrome causes slow physical growth, facial abnormalities. widely spaced eyes, short eyelid openings, a mall upturned nose and a thin upper lip a small head indicating that the brain has not developed fully.

fetal alcohol effects display only some of these abnormalities.

sweetie, if you're considering drinking, dont. if you already have, you cant take it back and i'm not going to judge you because we're all human and not perfect, we make mistakes, some worse than others...but you could've caused damage to your baby. i dont think one night is horrible & going to cause your child brain damage, but it was a really bad choice. were you a heavy drinker before the pregnancy? if so, that will increase the chances of harm to the baby.

ANY drinking during pregnancy is dangerous to the baby, and can cause FAS and/or many other problems. If you are asking on your own behalf, please consider AA or any other treatment/support program. I'm sure this is very difficult, but it is important for the mother and the baby. Be well!

Yes. My cousin (who is in my care/custody) is five years and has FAS. It's truly unfortunate. It's important for pregnant women not to drink through the duration of their pregnancy--the effects are devastating!
