Maybe not a direct threat tot he United States, but certainly to nations in that region of the world whom the US have allied ourselves with! If North Korea attacks the south - because of a defense treaty the US would be drawn in. The fact that NK may have nukes now, makes such a potential conflict all the more devastating!
Abu, Nuclear weapons are NOT defensive weapons! Long Range missiles are NOT defensive weapons! The US and Russia have been trying to dismantle our own nuclear related systems since the first Reagan/Gorbachav summit! As for building new weapons - the Patriot system, and the North American Missile Defense system are intended to INTERCEPT long range weapons fired from an enraged rogue nation like North Korea!

Yes. They are a major player in the military market and GW'b is so involved in liberating an area that doesn't a) want to be liberated, and b) is doing a nice job of tying up our only true abilty to strike quickly, I can't believe we can react to anything N. Korea does right now. This is a nuclear capable state folks, we need to recognize that the Middle East cannot occupy all our resources. This gov. wants to be the police of the world. Well, the world has a threat noone wants to acknowledge.

North Korea is a rogue state, controlled by a man who revels in his luxury items and immoral life style while his people go without. He is irresponsable and impulsive. That, coupled with his desire to possess atomic weapons makes North Korea a danger to the USA and to the whole world.

North Korea is definitely a threat to the US because it harbors terrorists and is an anti- US nation.

NK is not a big threat to the US but they are working on it. The US will end up in the war if it starts because NK will attack SK or Japan which we have promised to defend. I think Japan has enough time they will be ready. Japan is not someone NK wants to mess with and SK has a pretty good army built up and ready. Ithink 650,000 troops ready to go. NK has over a million but they don't have the high tech toys like SK and Japan has being backed by the USA.

They are a potential threat. They could attack neigboring countries and cause global unpheveal which would effect the US.
They could ship nuclear and conventional weapons to enemies of the US--including non-national terrorits groups.
They are enemies of freedom and liberty and are running what is perhaps the most oppressive dictatorship in modern history---this alone makes them a threat to what the United State is about.

Yes, as it has directly threatened us with war. Hello?!?!? Question is, is it capable of doing us serious harm. No it is not. However, it is capable of doing serious and lasting harm to our allies in its region. Namely, Japan and S. Korea. North Korea has launched its missles over those countries air space. Are you suggesting that that action is not threatening?? We protect our allies as if they were us. NK is a threat to itself in that it starves its people in order for its leaders to live in luxury. It builds weapons of war forcing it to depend upon the aid from other nations to feed its people. It shoots people who try to flee its borders. It witholds food from its people for political motives. Yes, North Korea is a serious threat.

not really, north korea has no plans of attacking the US. As is wriiteen many times in NYtimes. North Korea jus wants to show us the US not to mess wid them. Seeing how the US is going around making every country they beleive to not be a democracy, attacking them and then turning them into a democracy, he NK wants to make sure Bush dont go around gettin any ideas about going and attackin them next. They are scared of the US attacking, so they are threatening us of what they will do if we mess wid dem. So if Bush doesnt go around usin the 0 iq brain of his and attacking the NKs we are safe but im preety sure he will do exacty that and we will probably be in danger of gettin nuked by NK
