i don't think it would be possible for me to forgive that unless my child had forgiven them first, because that is where my allegiance lies, with my child....and then i would still be hard-put to forgive.....
but no, friend or priest or total stranger would be equal in the rage i felt toward them for causing my child such unspeakable harm

There is forgiving & then there is being a complete doormat. As the saying goes "there is a time for everything". I would say that I am a forgiving person, however, I draw the line at the above-mentioned cases. I don't care who you may be, I would beat the tar off anyone who did something like that to my child, & if I couldn't get my hands on you before the police did, nothing would make me stop trying.

I once told a close friend that it's good to forgive someone for the things they have done, but forgiveness does not mean that you need to trust them again. Forgiveness is more for the forgiver than the forgiven. It allows the person who is hurt to move on. But forgiveness does not mean that repurcussions (sp) should be neglected. Someone who breaks the law still needs to face the music, in a sense, because that is the only thing that will open their eyes to receive the help that they desperately need.

Yes, you made me think. I was going to say that I try to be a forgiving person, but I'm not sure I could if someone molested my son. Great question!!

Okay...I'll tell you the truth! Hell, no, I'm not going to forgive them for their hands all over my child! If someone molested MY child, and the person was a priest...I'd invite him hunting, tie him to a tree, shoot off his willie, and then say "whoops!", untie him, call an ambulance, and swear til the day I die it was an accident. If the molester was a friend, my heart would hurt..SO...bad...I would press charges, and distribute sex offender flyers.

I don't have any children, but if I did and my child was molested------no, I would not forgive the sick, perverted, deviant, regardless of whether he was a priest or a friend or a relative.

that's easy. I'd severely hurt somebody. I don't care who it was. I'm a forgiving person, but if it's a sin to not forgive a molester, then I will remain the sinner.

Heck no I could not forgive at all. This is a terrible thing to happen to a child and then by a priest, no way to be forgiven.

That is truly a hard question. I have a son and the most important thing for me is to protect him. Besides could I forgive someone, I have to ask myself could I keep myself from hurting that person. I think that maybe after sometime had past, I would like to think that I would be able to forgive that person for my own well being. It is never good to carry hate with you, it only hurts yourself and not the person you are carry for.
